So you've decided to pick Portraits Los Angeles as your headshot studio, what next? we're sure there's lots of questions you have and we will try and answer some for you below ---
What should I wear?
- Most actors will choose three different looks. One commercial look, another is a business/corporate look and the final one may be a theatrical or dramatic look. Ultimately the choice is up to you but these looks work the best. You should try and avoid any loud patterns or colors in your clothing, solid colors work best.
Do you shoot in a studio or natural light?
- We shoot in both and we aim to give you as much of a selection as possible when you leave our studio. So you can go home, review your images and pick the one's that look the best to you while giving you as much choice as possible. We try and not to limit our headshots to any one particular style so if you have any ideas or request then please feel free to shout them out at the shoot or mention them beforehand so we can prepare anything if necessary.
Do you have a make-up artist available?
- We have a couple of great MUA's that we use on a regular basis. Unfortunately these come at an extra cost, please look at our rates page for more information. If you decide against using a MUA, then please keep your make up to a minimum if possible, and keep your hair simple. We can't stress this enough, when you go to your auditions then casting directors are going to want to see the same as in the photo they have received, so keep it soft and simple.
Can I bring different looks?
- For sure! You bring whatever you feel the most comfortable in, and whatever you feel you look your best in but please remember to read the first question again about what works best in front of a camera. For prices on additional looks then please visit our rates page.
What type of payments do you take?
- Cash, Paypal, Check or Money Order, sorry but no credit cards at this time. Information about deposits can be found on our rates page, these need to be paid to us upfront and if it is a check we cannot reserve your slot until the money has cleared. The rest of payment should be made immediately after the shoot has finished.
Timekeeping.
- Please do your very best to turn up for your shoot on time, if you even want to appear five or ten minutes early then that's fine with us (although we may still be setting up at this point) if you are any more than 15 minutes late then we will have to re-book the shoot for another time.
Cancellations.
- If you are not going to make your appointment please, please give us enough notice to book the empty slot, We realize that this is an unfortunate part of life and living in hectic Los Angeles but please be aware that we keep the deposit, if you wish to rebook your shoot for another time then the deposit will carry over to this.
